Hanna is an original Prime Video television series, conceived by David Farr.
The series, of which the first season consists of 8 episodes, is based on the film of the same name by Joe Wright, from the now distant 2011. Hanna is not at all a “common” 16-year-old girl, she has been raised by her father in the woods, trained in defense and, above all, to not trust anyone. The father took her, at a very young age, from the claws of the CIA, who wanted to make her a perfect killing machine. The government agency, however, has not given up and is still on the trail of the girl. From here the series’ events will start.
Unlike the movie, the series, being longer, offers us a deeper insight into the characters and their relationships, allowing us digressions from what is the main plot. If you are thrillers fans, Hanna will be your cup of tea.
Homecoming is an original Prime Video tv series, directed by Sam Esmail and based on the homonymous podcast by Horowitz and Bloomberg.
This series sees Julia Roberts in the role of the protagonist Heidi Bergman. Heidi is a social worker who works in a secret military structure. She’s involved in the reintegration of war veterans into civilian dress. The scene then shifts several years ahead, Heidi has long since changed jobs when an American Department of Defense officer knocks on her door in search of answers from older years.
The series consists of ten episodes lasting about half an hour. This gives the narration a fast rhythm, avoiding frills and digressions. The mystery behind Heidi’s old work is the focus of the series, which represents an excellent TV debut for Julia Roberts.
13- The Terror
The Terror is a television series based on the 2007 novel “The Disappearance of Dan Simmons’ Erebus” and distributed internationally by Amazon Prime Video.
The Terror follows the misadventures of two ships of the Royal Navy: the Erebus and the Terror. The two ships of the British navy remain trapped in the ice while they are engaged in an exploratory mission in search of the famous passage to the northwest. The tension will become increasingly higher due to the inhospitable climate and difficulties.
The Terror, although inspired by real events, will tend to turn almost towards the paranormal: will it be just a trick of the mind or is there something mysterious in the ice?
Vikings is a television series of historical genre, created and written by Michael Hirst.
The series tells us, in a fictional version, the vicissitudes of the Viking warrior Ragnar Lothbrok, between Scandinavia and the British Isles of the 9th century AD
We will be introduced to the lifestyle of the brave Viking warriors, experience the internal struggles for power and those with other populations, plundered and robbed of everything. Together with the protagonist Ragnar we will meet many other characters: from his brother Rollo, to his wife Lagertha to his son Bjorn.
Vikings makes bloody actions one of its key points. This clearly does not make it suitable for everyone, but if this does not bother you, you’ll discover an exciting and engaging series.
11- The Purge
The Purge is a television series produced by Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes, based on the film series “The Night of Judgment” by James DeMonaco.
The Purge presents us a dystopian future in which the United States of America are governed by the New Founding Fathers, who established the outlet: a night in which every kind of crime is legal and tolerated, in order to maintain a crime rate very low for the next 365 days.
The series, like the films before her, becomes an opportunity for reflection, both on the darker sides of the human mind, and, more generally, on morality. The tone of The Purge is obviously horror and shows us the events of the night of the annual outburst. So we have people who barricade themselves waiting for the rampant madness to pass in the streets and those who instead take up any kind of weapon to give their pent-up rage the bottom.
If you have enjoyed cinematographic films, do not miss this new iteration of the brand.
