The former model, and apparently a friend of the Duchess of Cambridge, attended the banquet in honor of the US president. We hadn’t seen her since the British gossip had insinuated her alleged “special friendship” with Prince William …
He seemed to have lost his trail. And instead. Rose Hanbury, a 35-year-old Marquise of Cholmondeley, a neighbor of Kate Middleton and William in that of Anmer Hall, a Cambridge country house retreat, reappeared at the Buckingham Palace State dinner in honor of Donald Trump. Of white dressed, like the other ladies present (from Camilla to Kate to the queen and Melania Trump), and accompanied by a friend.
The marquise was in the eye of the storm a couple of months ago, when the gossip about her name and the marriage of the Dukes of Cambridge exploded.
Then, just silence. According to the Daily Beast, for “merit” also the intervention of the lawyer of the prince who would have threatened legal action against at least a couple of British tabloids. Rose Hanbury, for those who do not yet know her, is the beautiful Marquise of Cholmondeley, a former model and – it seems – also a former friend of the Duchess of Cambridge, since her “alleged relationship” with William ended on the cover last March dating back to a rumor that never occurred at the time when the Duchess of Cambridge was pregnant with Louis, the third child who came into the world in April 2018.
“Kate Middleton has a rival,” the British gossip magazines had written, motivating the alleged “friendship” between Rose and William with the fact that Kate had – at some point – erased the Marquis from the circle of her closest friendships. Moreover, the gossip had gone further, fantasizing about the rift between the two brothers. According to these rumors, in fact, the sons of Charles and Diana would have spent the last few months not for the influence of Meghan Markle, the minor’s outsider wife, but for the alleged closeness between Rose and William, poorly viewed by her brother. Harry, who suffered much from the betrayal of his father Carlo towards his beloved mother Diana, would not have endured such a thing on the part of his brother.
The voices then, we said, have disappeared. And Rose is back in the shadows, up to the sumptuous banquet in honor of the American president. Moreover, Rose is not without a “pedigree”: her paternal grandmother, Lady Rose Lambert, was a maid of honor at the wedding of Elizabeth II with Prince Philip in 1947. For this, according to the Daily Mail, Kate would have it always considered as a “rival” within the London that counts. Rose, former model of the Storm agency, is married to aristocrat David Cholmondeley. They live in Houghton Hall, an imposing 18th century rural palace, surrounded by miles and miles of gardens and countryside. The two have three children (like the Cambridge): the twins Oliver and Alexander, and a little girl, Iris.
Rose and her husband, over the years, have always been seen in the company of the Cambridge, on official occasions and beyond. The children, in fact, are playmates. At some point then, say the British tabloids, Kate would have pushed her away. “I wonder if the Marchesa reappeared at Trump’s dinner to silence the alleged rumors of infidelity or to nourish them?” The royal enthusiast’s blogs are now asking. Rose Hanbury, moreover, had already attracted all eyes to herself at another gala dinner, the one offered by the queen in honor of the Spanish royals, during their visit in July 2017. That time Rose sat by the side of the Prince Harry. This time, however, the 34-year-old at the dinner in honor of The Donald didn’t even show up. It seems to defend the honor of his wife, the American Meghan, “offended” by the president. If the prince had participated, would he have taken his place again next to the marquise? The question will remain unanswered. See you on the next episode.
